Things got a bit tense in the stands during an English Football League (EFL) One match on Saturday.

A fan from Peterborough crossed a barrier separating supporters of Reading at the latter’s Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The fan made it across the obstacle and, steps away from the opposition’s fanbase, appearing to spit toward the crowd.

As he lunged forward, the Peterborough backer careened over the fence, falling head-first into the ground before quickly scurrying back toward his team’s side of the barrier.

In another video, stadium officials appeared to try to apprehend the bold fan as he tried to jump back over the fence.

But after a brief struggle, fellow Peterborough fans helped the man break free from security and get back to their respective side.

The Peterborough side was, of course, fired up to get its man back.

In the end, Peterborough — on the pitch — came out on top, beating Reading 1-0 on its home field.

The match was Reading’s first third-tier match in more than two decades.

After the game, Reading fans staged a sit-in protest against the perceived chaos inside the stadium, according to a report from The Sun.
